Full-Stack Development with Cursor
Cursor is ideal for full-stack development — it understands both frontend and backend code in context.
Project Structure
Use a monorepo:
project/
├── client/ # React + Vite
└── server/ # Node.js + Express
Step 1: Scaffold the Project
"Create a monorepo with a React+Vite frontend in /client and a Node.js+Express backend in /server. Add a shared package for types."
Step 2: Build the Backend
"Create Express API routes for a task manager: GET /tasks, POST /tasks, PUT /tasks/:id, DELETE /tasks/:id. Use Supabase for the database. Add Zod validation for request bodies. Include proper error handling."
Step 3: Build the Frontend
"Create React components for the task manager: TaskList, TaskForm, TaskItem. Use React Query to fetch from the backend API. Add optimistic updates for better UX."
Step 4: Connect Everything
"Wire up the frontend API calls to the backend endpoints. Set up CORS. Add loading and error states to all components."
